Hey Peter. I did quickly but didn't look past Rud. I'll look again. Is there a non-ladder style chain other than rud? I better check it out. Either way, unless I want to run another set of wheels with my nearly bald 265's with chains, I have to figure something out. I never leave with chains on. I only install them when I'm in trouble, meaning already high-centered or stuck, or know I won't make it without them. Hauling and changing tires won't happen, and Winching a truck with the pull-pal in -30 is less fun than the 15 minutes or so it takes to do 4 chains. Although if I have the Tiger Torch out to dig a hole in the prairie, at least my feet stay warm. :)

I hear ya on the breaking shit, but I also heard ARBs are unreliable in cold due to condensation in the lines, etc. I'm screwed for decent chains though. Rud doesn't make one to fit 285's and ladder chains are crap and cannot be installed easily when you are already stuck like the ruds can be.

If anyone is interested, I have two lightly used sets (4 chains) to fit 265/75R16 that I'll be selling and a brand new set to fit 265/75R16 (2 chains) that I'll also be selling. I have a (2 chains) of the Genuine land Rover Rud Matic chains in Lad Rover carry bag which fit the stock tires and cost $600 new if anyone is interested in those at a reasonable price. These are much tougher, stronger one piece hoop and stronger and sharper chain links. They are also easier to fit and install.

wait a second...back up

I thought you were going to be running TT's front and rear?

didnt you snatch up the screaming deal from Keith on that TT?

tractech TT's are not known to fail when a shaft lets go like a DT.

Because I'm buying a front third from Nathan that already has 4.11's and a TT in it. I needed to get the stuff for the rear, and the 4.14 option came up. No it's not a conspiracy. I really did buy the third and I really did buy Keith's TT for the rear. And I really do drive a disco. Well, technically, although others may argue that last point.

Oh missed the discount part. Answer is no. Gave him a long list of stuff to get prices, and by the end of the day, I hadn't received any. Now all he's going to get is the gears for the rear. So I doubt he's going to discount anything now.

Hey Steve.....

:fuckoff:

I won't get into details, but the deal changed a bit on the TT, so I passed. Call it a misunderstanding. BTW, If any of you want TT's, there is a dealer on Pirate that sells them for 24 spline rovers at $400. DT are $450. Add new Timken bearings for another $50. You don't have to spend $600+ on a TT with bearings or wait for a smoking "one-time" deal.

Chances are I will stay open for a while. I can wait a couple of months to throw Nathan's 4.11/TT front third on so I can regear and do something in the rear at the same time. Costs on the motor repair/replacement are going through the roof. Had another $400 surprise today. I'll likely be happy just to get my truck running and wheel a month or two with CDL and the new SSRs. I haven't had it running since end of September!! I feel like I've lost my mojo. The old Ford is definitely cramping my style...

In the meantime I'm selling off parts I won't need from the 2002 and the 2000 and watching for deals. So yes, all I have purchased from Bill at this point are gears for the rear. He tried hard and offered me some great deals, but I didn't bite yet. I want a drivable truck and to know where I stand financially before I throw more money in. Make sense?

So you bailed on a deal with keith...you made it sound like you scooped up the TT and it was on its way to you?

so this thread about a detroit and stock shafts is all bull shit then?

now from reading this post it sounds like just about everything is on hold?

so at what point should we start taking your posts serious?...or are you just here to waste bandwidth and good people from this community's time?

see I knew I smelled a frigging rat back in that other thread...and guess what I was right.

What? Not quite right.

4.6 block, install kit with lifters, front cover assembly with oil pump all will arrive tomorrow from AB.

Post's third is bought and paid for and enroute. Why don't you ask him? Maybe you'd like the tracking number?

I bought a CDL actiuator from Roving Beetle. Paid for and enroute. Why don't you ask him?

Bought the gears from GBR. They are enroute also.

Truck is in shop half apart. Got towed from Dealership to new install facility yesterday afternoon.

Heads and headers went into machine shop today to get machined and overhauled.

So what is it to you if I want to worry about getting the motor in and truck running and do the rest in stages? I'm not asking to store parts in your garage dude.

So you bailed on the TT from Keith & gears & stuff from Bill. Lord know who else?
I hope you stopped the transaction with Keith before it was shipped it would suck to have to pay the return shipping.
FYI: When are you going to start being straight with us? WTF!

because you post stuff here that seems to be just bull shit...

so when did this stuff go on hold?

since you started this new thread?

how did the deal change?

did you in anyway stick the dealer involved?

see this is a tight community and when something dosent sound right then people start asking questions.

you come here and expect free help from this comminity and thats fine we welcome new members many times a day...but if you take advantage of the fact that there are good people here discoweb dosent forget.

so wasent that TT about the same price as the one from the "guy on pirate"? or did you just change your mind after you bought the one from Keith?

did he ship it to you at his cost?

when you changed your mind did you pay a restocking fee like most other vendors do when people change their minds?

please help us understand here?

I don't think there is anything to try and understand musky. Just another tool spewing bullshit and another to add to the ignore list...which of late seems to be growing daily instead of monthly

I didn't bail on anything from Bill. I asked for prices and didn't hear back. By the time he responded to my request for quote, I had bought some of the things on my list. You know what? He was totally okay with that. The deal on the third from Post (Nathan) meant I needed one less gear set and one less TT or locker.

As for Keith, I didn't want to get into here, since it's between him and I. I doubt he wants to get into it either. He referred to it as a misunderstanding and I will agree to that. If Keith wants to step in and explain it then I leave that to him. Your insatiable need to dig up dirt and start trouble is more intriguing than the details I'm leaving out here. I know it's hard for you, but I don't need to tell you every detail of my life. So far you've added very little useful information to anything I've asked. Most of your posts are inflammatory, and this goes to all of your posts, not just my threads. Dude. You need to read or watch the secret. Think positive and do some yoga. Relax buddy.

Nothing is on hold other than the purchase of one TT or locker. Is that okay with you? I tried to get the mechanic to put the T-case in while waiting for the motor and other gear. You know what he said, "I want to wait until we get the motor in and the truck running before we start working on Diffs and shit." Is that okay with you? Do you want his number? Maybe you can call him and change his mind for me. I'd rather he work on all that he can now so when the motor is done I can stay out of the shop for a bit.

Thanks to the majority of you who have given me lots of good advice, most of which I have taken. Hopefully I can continue learning from you all and help more people like me as I continue to use, break and rebuild my truck.
