Now for everyone who wants one of these things here it is. It cost less than $15 bucks and maybe 3hrs time. It looks as rugged as hell and will stand up to it. Now i wont feel bad throwin a tool on my hood ( seeing b/4 i did this it was the nicest pc of sheet metal on the Landy).
Oh BTW we had some pounding rain over the past few days and the sunroof did not leak at all
:D
I DID IT MYSELF,,, i like to do as much as possible with this as i can, KNOWLEDGE =POWER

Ask Agro, I sure he thinks you did it wrong.
I like it, I did mine with flat black, now I do not shudder to stand on it.

Looks good, and the sunroof idea was very interesting.

Adam - no offense intended: it looks like shit (but I don't like hood blackouts, anyway). Also, did you take part in Camel Trophy?

I have three white rovers, and never had a problem with being blinded by sunlight reflected by the hood. Even in snow. This halfway blackout job, along with the CT sticker, just screams "poseur."

Also... You'll have to pressure-wash the hood so the black area keeps looking black - Rhino collects dust, and it doesn't come out very easily.

geez, you guys are harsh. If it looks good for you, go for it. If you don't like it, don't do it to your truck, but give the guy a break. The CT sticker on the rhino looks pretty cool - who cares if he participated or not, maybe he considers it an homage to the marque. Did you mask it out or just overlay it on the rhino? and where'd you get rhino so that you could do it yourself? Didn't know you could buy it in a store, but never really looked either.

Yes i took part in the Camel Trophy last year KAT_MAN_DU 2004 and it is not Rhino line it is Fresh STILL STEAMING PA. COW SHIT.
If you mean Poseur as not taking it on trails....well I live in a state where you can barley piss on the land w/o getting fined for it. SO YES I AM but I like how it looks so SOD OFF YOU WANKER
Thanks.

Yes it is a honor to the marque...a buddy of mine does it for a living so I got it off of him. Yes I marked out where th CT should go and then laid it downe with the protective coating still on it. Sprayed it down then peeled away.

Kevin, who did you call an A-hole?

Adam, what was the reason you posted it here? If that was to hear opinions, you have mine. And I have no reason to "sod off" you, buddy, you don't own the fucking site. So, if you admit being a poseur, don't bitch about being called one.

Yes NORI it is Rhino Line

The reason I oput Shit up on this site is to create ideas and gather ideas the same as you. I put it up to show people that you dont need to spend 75-100 bucks on a vinyl blackout. I am a DO-IT-Yourself person and if I helped someone on here have a light bulb go off then I accomplished the reason I put it up. If I wanted you to stroke me I would have gone to your web site so we could be alone.

I did mine for the purpose of stopping glare from the florida sun and the 4 lights I have hanging from my roof rack...the cool thing with it being a decal is its not so permanent...unlike Rhino liner...not to mention it'll gather dust and crap in its pores...
Now if you had done below the rubbing strips on the side I'd be all over it...although as you have already stated you cany go off road much where you live, so it probably wouldnt serve purpose there either...

Already did it below the rub strips, that was my test on how this stuff worked. To be honest with you I have had no problem getting dirt out of the pores using a soft bristle brush when washing it down.

Peter, no offense, It was you I was referring to as the A-hole. And thats my opinion so take your own advice and don't bitch about it. Didn't your mother ever teach you that if you don't have something nice to say keep your mouth shut? If your going to be a dick, expect to be treated like one. I'm embarrassed I even responded, this site has gone to shit lately with all the "My Dicks bigger" and "I am the Doyen of whats proper on a Land Rover" comments. Nuff said.

Looks great on the sides... really, really great. As for the hood- hard to tell from pics but it looks as if it's quite 'granular' and the colour seems inconsistent. Personally, I prefer the matte paint or matte vinyl look- but I don't fault you for doing whatcha want. Good on ya...

Sure, it "looks" good. But does it serve a purpose that cannot be acheived by simple paint or, is it more functional than paint ? I'm not sure I'd like to have what amounts to a sandpaper like surface on my hood. Hey, to each his own.

I painted the hood on one of my Rovers with flat trim paint I got from a Honda dealer... it's extremely durable, but not as durable as one of the bed liner materials. I set tools on the hood and all that and so far it's been fine, but it's starting to show some wear- where the liner material wouldn't.
Once you have a hood blackout, you'll wish you had it all along- it is a lot easier on the eyes. I think I'm going to give Vigg a call and get my 04 done soon.
