This ole boy was hit northeast of Columbus, Ohio on route 161. Sad way to go for the old fella.

Paul, I am sure it did not go to waste. It was picked up by a CPD friend of mine that hunts every chance he can get. If he did not keep it, you can bet someone who needs it got it.

Good Lord! Are you sure that's gonna be enough gun?:D

Inherited gun from my grandfather after his passing. Too bad I cannot see past 100 yards where we will be hunting on Monday. My 12 gauge Ohio slug gun would work just fine, but I figure......why not!

If you can hunt deer with a rifle, do it!

I plan to pick up a .357 or .44 rifle Friday and then it's off to the woods Saturday and Sunday.

Not sure where it compares to .357 or .44, but my new favorate want gun is a 45-70. Check one out! Much lower velocity, but pure knock down power.

.45-70 is a truly great caliber; it's a cannon (and that's a good thing!) :D

Not legal in Indiana to hunt deer in a rifle AFAIK, but the 44 and 357 both are.

The 45-70 is legal for deer in a handgun though :D

PT, Out of curiosity, how does Indiana deal with Thompson Contenders in rifle calibers? I've seen some TC barrels for genuine rifle calibers capable of long ranges when fired from longer barrels. (Including .45-70, .30-30, and .223)

Basically anything over .35" diameter and case length equal to .357 magnum. Apparently, there is a new law that requires some rifle cartridges to be cut down. .35 Remington (IIRC) has to be shortened if shot in a rifle.

I know of at least one person who hunted deer in Indiana with a 45-70 revolver and another who hunts with a .50 S&W rifle.

When I lived in Kentucky, I saw a T-C barrel in .458 Whiz Bang (Win Mag). The guy had two barrels. One of which, the end of the bullet was even with the muzzle!

you guys do realize you are hunting Deer not Mooses, don't you?

I hope your ass is extremely well balanced on that stand when you squeeze that 7mm

Part of why I like a ground blind.

A Snap-On dealer fell out of a tree stand in late October or early November. He is unlikely to ever work again and is gonna be lucky to walk again.

The carabiner on his fall-prevention harness broke.

As for me, it looks like I'm gonna end up with a .500 S&W rifle. A tool buyer has one:D
