I've never understood the hatin' on the Tractor store. What's wrong with their bow shackles?

Most of them do not have a WLL rating casted into them. They're probably made in China. I have seen some at TSC that did have WLL, though.

At one time they were selling Warn bow shackles in the trailer hitch department which did have WLL ratings.

I've never seen them without a working load limit cast into them. I'll look more closely next time!

Keeping shackles in the bag is definitely a better way to go, but doesn't have that "Hard Core" look to it that shackles hanging off the front of a truck!

If you're really worried about loosing them, just take them off and put them in your gear bag.

Ding Ding Ding! You do lose that poseur look when they're not on 24/7, but then there's no worry about losing them due to vibration or theft. And they won't scratch the paint off your bumper.
If you must have them on ALL the time, screw them in from the top. Gravity is your friend.

I dislike the hair pins on these shackles. http://www.tractorsupply.com/agricul...andard-0268852
They're easy to lose and then you're f'd. Also not thrilled about the idea of any sideways or awkward angle pull placing a load on those tiny little pins.
