Right after we got married (20-odd years ago) my wife was the one who encouraged me to buy a toy to indulge my passion for cars. Since then there have been many different toys, and although she hasn't loved all of them, she's loved me and encouraged me to continue my hobby as a way to keep a balance to work.

Support and love is having your fiancee (spouse-to-be) put in 3 stitches to a deep cut after I injured myself working on the rover Tuesday. I walked in to her ER, she looked at me, looked at my face... asked me how I cut myself and then while injecting lidocane and putting in the first stitch asked me if I liked my new wheel/tires that I picked up earlier that day. She's the best.

i bet if you did a survey/poll you would find the majority of us like our women like our rovers.....high maintenance.

No, Hell NO! My Rovers are high enough maintenance, I don't need a wife needing continuous maintenance as well!

My first wife, was high maintenance, just looking over my shoulder to make sure she wasn't gonna shoot me.

My current (and last) wife is really low maintenance and I like that!

Well, I am only 17 but I suppose this could work with parents.

My mom loves my (well, technically theirs) Discovery. Occasionally she'll steal it from me. She knows its not the most reliable car but neither is hers.

My dad is a bit skeptical about the Disco. In his youth he had a 1963 Series IIa that was his pride and joy but it was unreliable and he needed a more efficient, roadworthy car. His SIIa was unreliable and he knows that the Disco isn't that great reliability wise either, but at least you could work on the SIIa a lot easier than a DII. Although he notices Land Rovers have turned into plush luxury SUVs, straying from their heritage, he will admit they do have capability unlike many modern SUVs and he enjoys the ride height and visibility.

We'll see though...

Side of the road....
My wife just let me get a lift, sliders, tires, quick disconnects and driveshafts. God bless her. Unfortunately the trade off was she gets to drive it around everyday and not me. Damn her!

I got rid of the mega beast "X-wife" so I could get the disco :victory:
no more bitchen

Ha! I got rid of the husband so I don't have to listen to his bitching either. So nice to leave to wheel or be out in the driveway working on my rover and not have to listen to " I can't understand why you like that damn thing so much" or " How much were those parts?" :D

Ha, I tell my wife she's like a Farrari.
Maintenance is a killer and needs lots of attention to keep it running smoothly but nothing is more fun to drive.

Damn interesting to thinkthat our women and vehicles are so alike. High maintenance! In my case it was her idea to buy the rover and now she thinks it would be best suited as a trade in for a hybrid. My idea for a hybrid would be with mog axles and a deisel!!

My girlfriend (someday wife) is great. For a Christmas present she rented me a garage for the winter so I could have somewhere warm and dry to work on my truck. She doesn't care how much I spend on the truck either as long as I enjoy it.

I have a LOT of cars/toys, of every brand and category. My wife says that "our" (her) County LWB is the best purchase I've ever made. With the EAS working like it's supposed to, it's hard to fault. It gets better gas mileage (26 mpg on a very long trip!) than almost every other car that we own and is the preferred family ride. Having the LWB allows me to buy anything else that I want!
