    VW tdi forum suggestions?

Some days I really miss my TDI. My immediate family has owned 5 of them. (All pre-PD era, thankfully)

    Glock vs Sig

I'm relatively new to firearms, but one word of advice seems to have stuck with me: get what fits you best. The best-built gun on the market that you aren't comfortable with or can't control is not the best gun for you. I happen to like Glocks. They fit me. They're simple and easily...

Why does Rover V8 require premium fuel?

Do those heat sleeves protect the piston tops against detonation?

03 discovery resurrection by Cannibal V8

Makes sense. (though the ARPs I used on a VW head DID have a retorquing schedule)

03 discovery resurrection by Cannibal V8

Could you explain your reasoning? I'm not arguing, just curious.

    So, this is different

I have an acquaintance that is convinced battery-powered cars are the only way of the future. He is so convinced that he has converted a Miata over & butchered a vintage Saab to be powered by motors. Overall, I have to admit that he did a pretty good job of it (much better than a Ranger with...

Then get an old Audi 90 with locking diffs and put coilovers on it so you can raise the ride height. If a Subaru gave you issues, a Volvo will likely be worse (unless you go XC70).

    Bmw lwb?

I know this guy from a BMW forum. He has taken it on more than fire roads. Not boulder fields or desert, but more than just gravel roads.

Front half-shafts and hubs are certainly getting pricey. IME you don't need an iX. My brother and I made it back from Detroit in the blizzard of '96 through 10" of snow in his Blizzak-shod 325e with very little drama. It is a wonderfully balanced car and completely predictable when it gets slick.

    Hawaii: Big Island / Oahu

Driving the back side of West Maui did have its tight moments, but really wasn't that terrible. I do think the warnings are warranted for most rental car drivers though. The south side of the island was tight as well, but I managed to follow a local who knew the road and kept the speed up...
