PT: I heard a hiss and a gurgle last night in the dash. I guess the "smoke" could be steam... Funny thing, when I popped the hood I noticed that the coolant res was out of water.
Next question: How awful will be to change out the heater core? heh
Drove to my girlfriends last night and parked it in her drive. Turned the truck off (D2) and hear a crackling noise in the dash and what seems like gurgling of water (the two may not be related). I listen a little closer, look around and see smoke coming from the driver side center dash vent...
Actually, come to think of it, about a year ago I took it offroading and blew out the OME shock, oil everywhere, etc... replaced the shock shortly after and didn't think much of it. Maybe the axle was bent in the process.
Are stock axles weak enough to bend like that?
Apologies for all the repeated threads, the forum has some issues with my browser (Safari).
I've got a 3" RTE lift on OME's and Maxxis BigHorn MTs all around.
Stock axles.
The tire is just plain worn down. Wear is even across the tread, but the lugs of the tire are "ramped" for lack of a...
Hey all-
The passenger rear tire on my D2 is worn really really badly compared to the other 3. Any ideas what could be causing it? I've jacked up the tire and checked for play in the bearing but it felt fine. Alignment? Bad tire? Im friggin' stumped.

I need the top tube, #6, at the very least.
But its got me worried, if that tube is bad, the rest are probably on the way. Im curious how much it would be to replace all of them.
My D2 sprung a leak yesterday, a pinhole sized hole in the side of one of the metal coolant tubes that runs off the engine to feed the heater core in the truck. I thought it was a bad hose but sure enough the tube had rusted clean through from the inside out.
Now what?
I've got a whole bunch...
... does it matter? There's really no way to tell from those codes, atleast from the research that I've done. Just pull them all and test 'em. If they all look good, and the other issues mentioned check-out, then would consider buying a MAF.
Batt Terminal -
unplug battery terminals, clean with a terminal brush, re-attach. Make sure they are nice and tight. My + lead was loose, full of crustys, and not working well. Coke or soda will neutralize the crustys as well.
O2's -
There are a few different ways to test your O2s. Here...
I had the same codes for about 2 years, eventually found out it was the MAF.
BUT! Many different things could have caused it:
- vacuum leak or unmetered air downstream from the MAF
- bad or leaking purge value
- bad O2s (easy to test these btw)
- bad temp sensor causing the computer to think...
That tick-tick-tick you hear is the sound the dealership going out of business, not your engine.
Get your truck back before they make you an unwilling investor in their franchise.
Street-scum smashed their way into my truck through the rear passenger door glass and I need a replacement. Anyone have some glass to sell?
