We got the BMW so we would have something reliable and really nice, that I would enjoy and Ron would enjoy. It ended up being a nightmare with more problems than any 10+ year old vehicle we've ever owned-- and now has had TWO fires. Unfortunately, neither of us like the MB E320 (too mushy), Ron won't get an Audi, I can't stand Lexus, Acura, Infinity, and the US doesn't produce anything I'd like to buy. The X and S Type Jags are just ugly and disguised American cars, and the XJ is a little too $$$. I love Volvos, but they are a little too "family" for us right now. I would like to get a used new RR, and hope that would be the direction we go, but the darn things aren't depreciating that much, so they are still way up there in price. Neither of us fit in a Discovery II or a Freelander, so we've never gone that direction. Ron doesn't fit in a Boxter, which would have been a great choice. We looked at the new 911, and I have to admit I really like it, but the dog won't fit comfortably, and neither will any luggage. I didn't have enough leg room in the old 911. While that would be really nice, it just isn't practical (and again, the $$$ is quite high). My requirements are leg room, copious lumbar support, heated seats, CD, room for the dog (but I'm ok with a rear seat that people can't fit in, since we rarely have people in the back), comfy for a long trip, and room to fit luggage for a trip AND the dog at the same time). I would really LIKE navigation and a sunroof, but I could live without. Ron's recently gotten on this kick that he doesn't want a new car, only old cars that have already depreciated so much they will barely change in value. I'm sick of driving old cars and want something nice, luxurious, and new.

The E39 M5 ONLY comes in a 6 speed manual. There is no other option.
D'oh!
Alyssa said:No, it's not a gag. We have a 90 lb. golden retreiver, and there is a giant hump in the middle of the backseat of the 911. It is really small for her to fit in if she is in the back-- too small for her to be comfortable. She goes everywhere with us. She needs to fit in anything we get. Plus, in that car, we could fit luggage OR the dog, but not both.

Ron said:You would be suprised the number of new range rovers sold to 16 year olds or guys wearing raggedy clothes and worn out shoes or people who drove a econobox or are a plumber. I doubt you work at Amherst as they would not hire someone like you, or at least that is the impression I had last time I was up there.
