Great looking work but not quite what I'm after either but your the closest so far.

The problem with it for me is I want some sort of protection for the brittle old plastic pieces I call marker lights. I lose them enough to rocks on the road without leaving them open for tree branches and etc on the trail.

I love the tubular style though. Your the best I've found thus far as most of the ones for the RRC look like they were taken off of a hummer down in the motor pool.

Looks good. Just out of curiosity how much metal is left here:see attachment. Why the dip in the mount right above the top bolt hole? On my 95 I don't think there is anything there to avoid.
I know I don't have enough experience to be critiquing other's work, but it's just someting that caught my eye. Nice looking bumper though, what size/wall tube is it?

seems that both the bumpers you've pimped block the headlamps.

i'm beginning to wonder if you actually use your discovery, and just see rover owners as a cash cow for your wares? nothing that you've posted to date, seems to spawn from actual use, just regurgitation's of the garbage thats already out.

just a thought.

tubes just dont look good on land rovers. tubes are for buggies. at least the welds are clean.

Nice effort, but not something I'd want on my vehicle even if it was free.

To clear this tube:

Actually, I have about a 1/2" left here so I'll be leaving a little more steel in place in the future.
Main tube is 2" x .156 walll.
All mounting plates are 1/4" plate.
Winch plate is 3/8"
Lugs are 1"

Well, then you'd be wrong again.
But hey, by all means, keep thinking.

As for the light being "blocked".
I've been driving my DD D1 for several months with this bumper:

And it has no discernable effect whatsoever on the light beam thrown.
Try it yourself, turn on your lights and then put a tube a few inches away from it, across it like in the picture.
It has very little effect, if any, on the beam thrown.

You might be right but some state inspections might fail it for being in the way of the lights.

Possible, I suppose.
I've never heard of it happening and people have been using pre-runner bars like this for a lot of years. All pre-runner style bars cross the lights to some degree.
How many states even have safety inspections anymore?

Yes, It's a different look than most out there.
You guys out east seem to all want that "Camel Trophy Truck" look.
Nothing wrong with that.
This isn't it.

It's more of a desert racer/rock crawler design.
That's what I like, that's what I build.

To each their own.
