My 1982 vintage Rolex takes a licking and keeps on ticking, just don't expect it to tell the correct time. I couldn't tell you the last time I wore it.

HA! Same problem -- mine was built in '68, never leaves my wrist, is constantly reset for travel, has logged a LOT of time underwater and never misses a beat. But it's always within 5 minutes off in one direction or another . . .

Honestly, the only time I ever wear a watch is when backpacking, wheeling, canoeing, and surfing, and it's the same solar-powered atomic receiver equipped g-shock I've had since 2002. Still waterproof, still keeps perfect time, battery has never died. I keep it in the disco as a backup. For everyday use though, I just don't need a watch. I have my iPhone, the clock on my computers, various clocks throughout the house, etc. I have a "nice" watch for wearing with my suit when occasion requires, but now that I have tattoos, it just doesn't quite work as a fashion piece. A pocket watch could work maybe, in the coat-pocket.

So what do your wear? Wife's panties?

Hah, you wish... :victory:

My accessories are built-in, they're called tattoos. Though I do have a chain with a roman coin I wear, gift from my mother. Used to wear several rings many years ago, one made of iron - anyone who can tell me the significance of that will undoubtedly understand why.

I have several swiss automatics and even a couple american made mechanical pocket watches, but my favorite watch by far is a victorinox quartz that I got back in 98 or 99 and has now been in the repair shop 3 times. Latest one is because it took a tree limb in the face while skiing a few weeks back. Sapphire crystals are usually pretty bomb proof, I don't know how I blew up the face and didn't break my arm.

High-speed... bet that'd look good with your 5.11 hat and pants! :D

I thought it would be cool, I like the LED function no intention of being a Expedition Exchange Commando

For anyone looking to get into an automatic chronograph of good value now, I would recommend one from Victorinox, or the Tissot PR516 line.
I'd agree with that... Maybe add Wenger to this list.
when I need a watch that shows time dead on, hands still glow in the dark at 4 in the morning, clear and concise dial without any silly little dials I can't see anyway, a $50 Wenger watch from Costco is on my wrist (similar to that). It isn't flashy at all, and looks rather plain by today's shiznit-obsessed standards.
The only thing that has a chance to replace it when (if) it dies, is a $35 Timex.

Yeah, that 'spec ops' watch is pretty sweet, but I could never come close to spending that much -- not even sure I would if I could! I like that it is 'high speed' without being pretentious looking.

Ah yes, never ask a man wearing a Rolex what time it is. On the off chance he's on the same time zone as you are, there is an even greater chance the time indicated on the watch won't be correct.

By the way, if anyone knows of a good repair shop for Seiko kinetics, please let me know. I have a pair of matching his and hers watches that are really nice, but do not work any longer.

Try Kings Jewelry in your local mall.
