I don't even portray it as a Rolex. It's just a sub style watch. There are no Rolex markings and I wouldn't try to pass it off as a Rolex. It's just a watch with a look I like. I have built a Tudor homage, and a vintage Seadweller homage. The difference is that I would never claim it to be a Rolex or Tudor, just a good looking watch.

Seadweller homage

Tudor homage

Seiko built from parts

Here's a few of the watches I have built. The first two are homages and the last is a collection of parts that make what I think is a good looking timepiece.

Knowing nothing about what you are actually doing here, two things:

  1. Great pictures.
  2. What would you do if I sent you one of these on the bottom of this page, which is basically a corpse: 7T32 http://www.larrybiggs.net/scwf/index.php?mod=103&action=0&id=1150298629

The only thing I don't like about the one my wife bought me for Christmas (top of this thread) is that it does not have numbers on the face. I don't scuba anymore, so 10 bar is fine for me. I just feel bad having this cool looking body of a watch sitting here not working, it's bugged me for the past three years just sitting in my drawer. Any hope for a second life with someone like you?

How many Rolex Sub owners actually go scuba diving??

Why own a Submariner if you don't dive?

I'll admit I do wonder why anyone but a serious commercial diver has a desire to own a Seadweller. What possible reason do you need the extra thickness and HE valve? But that's just me.

Why does anyone care what watch someone else owns or wears? If you don't appreciate it then it definitely isn't worth the money to you.

Why do you drive a Land Rover or Porsche, etc.? Why do you purchase and continue to use anything? Because you appreciate and value it.

I dive with mine. I still use a dive computer, though.

Grand Canyon State
Titanium Tissot for dress, Suunto Titanium Observer for daily wear.

Wishlist: Omega Seamaster in Titanium.

Once you wear Ti, you look at stainless like it was from the stone ages-that makes every Rolex a arm-weight...

Some of the submarine type watches weigh in at 300 grams
compare that to 80grams of Ti...

Please.

If that were true, you'd be driving a Toyota, not a Land Rover.

I drive a Honda civic, wear a timex ironman, they say nothing and everyone has one.

I see so many d-bags wearing Subs its redic, its nice to know there are people out there that use them.

Bulova make some nice entry point watches. I have a marine star automatic. I would suggest a citizen eco drive too.

X2 on the eco drive. I was given a Nighthawk as a gift 4 years ago. I beat the living shit out of it and it keeps on ticking. Other than once where I wore it at night and it gave me a rash, I've never had any problems with it. Never need to wind it, never need to change a battery.

Every now and then, I scrub it a little bit and it looks fantastic.

I wear it to work, under the truck, camping, wheeling, business meetings.

I get compliments on it all the time.

But you still own a Land Rover. There is no justification for owning a Land Rover other than emotional (form) reasons. You are practical in some areas of your life, but not in others and yet are judging of others that are acting in the same manner as you.

A LR can be plenty practical. Inexpensive, reliable enough, easy to fix, easy to find parts for. Some models are more practical than others, though I'll certainly admit that a Yota is MORE practical from every perspective but price.

I guess I try to justify it by driving my Civic 90% of the time. I need 4wd for work so I also use it then so maybe its not completely impractical. The Defender is emotional the RRC not so much. I mean at least I need 4wd occasionally, I know people that wont even swim in their sub WTF?
