However, the Defender 130 with the off road and tow packages came out to 73k. That is really interesting to me, but still more than I want to spend on a vehicle.
While the allure of a new vehicle is always there, ≈ 73k pays for much maintenance on the current fleet. And I enjoy driving all of them! Couple that with a real disdain of all the unnecessary electric crap such as traffic sign recognition in the Defender, I’ll probably just stay with what I have.

If you could get the 130 without the stupid 3rd row I'd be interested.

That's where it needs to be an emotional decision. Something you just gotta have and am willing to put out the dollars for. The Ineos felt that way to me when it was announced. Either it didn't live up to expecations, or my heart changed over time, or both.

When you think about spending money on current vehicles instead, it opens a whole new world. My Sequoia is finally supported by the off road market and by the performance market. I can get a supercharger on it for $10,000, do a lift with new wheels, tires, armor for another $10,000 and have something that is pretty unique and will be better at towing my other toys around while opening up overlanding trip potential in a huge vehicle. But, I dunno. The build would be more fun than the use, which would likely be minimal. My wife prefers hotels to camping for what few trips we get to take.

Why not a D5? Though the aesthetic isn’t as great (IMO better looking than a 130) it’s a better use of space and better price point. Similar underpinnings and drivetrain as a 130

Now that being said....there is a new for 2024 version of the 130 called the Defender Outbound. This one is really interesting...it comes WITHOUT third row seats and for some reason no rear quarter windows. I could go for this one BUT it'll run you damn near $90K. I configured one and the only option I added was the offroad pack which adds a house electrical socket in the back and the locking rear diff.

That looks beefier than the normal defender...

Is it just the wheels and tires or are the fenders a little more flared?

It has 20” wheels with off-road tires. I think the minimum diameter you can fit is 19” because of the brakes. Tire choice in 19” is a joke. Lucky8 has a thousand dollar rear brake caliper kit that would let you fit 18s. But the money just keeps adding up then. I think it’s the extra length and the body-colored rear quarter windows that make it look better. I dig it. But the entry price is steep!

I do think that this $87k Defender 130 Outbound is a lot more truck that an $87k Ineos.

Imagine if you could delete all the extra crap and get a base model type like they used to offer in the 110 as the 130. I spec'd a stipper version 110 with towing and off road stuff including steel wheels in the mid-50's when the 2023 defender builder was still live. Those are no longer an option - now they are 67k for the same build.

I found a new 2023 mid-50k in a search but not clear what the specs are....

Do you really want a 4-cylinder big truck? I know it says 296 HP or whatever but come on man! Disclaimer; I should drive one before I open my big mouth (and I will) but it can’t be good.

My wife’s new 4-banger turbo Mercedes SUV is fast, faster than my 1998 Porsche, but it drives like a rented mule. If you kick it, it goes, and goes fast, but completely unrefined and outta control. I’ll do some weight to HP comparisons and then get off my high mule and actually drive them and report back.

Yeah, I know. If money were no object then bigger is better. That being said, that 4 banger is a helluva lot stronger than the V8 dog in my Discovery.

I get that you already own your Sequoia, but much like you have a hard time with new car prices, there is NO way I could throw $20k at Sequoia add-ons.
