Sigh, I'm casting my vote for the republicans, but it wont matter, the media chose obama
Well, I've only lived here for 4 years, but from what I know about her, she is tough and has risen up the ranks pretty quick. Her approval rating up here during the first year of taking office was the highest it has ever been for any Governor, ever. Almost 90% I believe. She is fiscally conservative, strong on energy and ethics, holds her ground and doesn't let ANYONE push her around, and she has played a huge role in getting a gas pipeline built, which is no easy task. She's also done a lot to clean up the corruption in Alaska's political figures which has been exposed over the last year.
Yes, she is inexperienced with two terms as Mayor of a small town in Alaska (Wasilla) and as a new Governor of Alaska, but she CRUSHED Frank Murkowski in the primary and former Governor Tony Knowles in the general election for Governor, so we are very confident in her ability to lead.
Obama is also very inexperienced (US Sen. since '05?) and he is going for the top job with his VP candidate, Biden, having more experience than him. So, it's sort of the same deal with McCain, but personally, I'd rather have someone with more experience going for President than my VP.
All in all, I think it shakes things up a little and it certainly brings a little life and charisma to the face of McCain's campaign, not to mention the implications of that fact that women now have an option to put a woman in a top executive position in the White House and it says something about McCain making the choice to run with a woman. I dunno.
