Short story: Hit oak tree at 70 mph while 17yo, graduate high school in wheel chair loosing all football/basketball scholarship offers, work 2 jobs getting CE degree, build high rise luxury hotels and huge industrial plants ( FoMoCo, etc) making lots of $$ but no time and bad marriage, huge re-evaluation, back to school for RN, divorce wife, remarry- great marriage, work night w/e in ER and dive M-F for several years, have a couple kids, quit racing Porches and started wheeling Rovers instead of Jeeps, and still build a little, nurse a little, and schlep hard to find NAS Defender parts and horse trade Rovers- and that is the short version. The fun stuff was the rock climbing, backcountry skiing, diving, marathons, triathlons, powerlifting, and general adreniline junkie stuff until total knee at 46yo...... and still ticking. TMI????

Engineer working in final finishes on the best fighter jet in the sky - the F-22 Raptor.
Second generation Lockheed employee - been there for 28 years.
F-16 crew chief here. Still need to finish school just not sure what route though. Thinking engineering of some sort. How is Lockheed to work for? How MX friendly is the 22?

Come to AK, BP will double your salary. The starting salaries for engineering students right out of school is ridiculous. Geologists must have their graduate degree, but holy shit do they like to incentivize people up here. I guess when you have billions of dollars in the bank, it's not that hard.

I'm one of those Petro Engineers. Work for Conoco Philips in the Williston Basin. Home office is Denver, so I do get to leave the frontier every now and then. We're drilling like mad, even with oil touching $40. Funny thing is, the wind power plants up here just cut back 30%, because oil is too low. Huh, wonder how Obama will figure that one out.

I have some very close friends that live in Ranburn. Their cousin (Billy Ray Gay)has worked at the depot as a welder for more than 30 years. He has been working some serious hours ever since the war started up.

They just had a bad accident in one of the weld shops, One of the Co-Op Students punctured an aerosol can and threw it under a tank while someone was welding under there. Guy had second degree burns all over his face. Co-Op programs usually work pretty good but sometimes you get some bad ones that like to fuck around too much and this is what happens. I am sure he will get "his" in the near future.

Ranburn is only 15 minutes from my house in Hollis Crossroads

Own a boatyard on the coast of Maine. Build, restore and service (mostly build/restore and do primary work all in wood) Electronics, motor installs etc etc.

Also have a "side job" LOL owning a euro car/truck mechanic and professional restoration/customizing shop. Also buy and sell special interest cars/trucks (dealer). We live on a small island that is mostly national park, small community with a huge influx of wealthy "summer" clients.

Own a couple rental properties so I am a slum-lord as well. :)

Also work part time for a new start up local natural food store 2 days a week from 5am till noon or so helping them out. (gets me out of the shop.....)

parts guy @ chrysler, dodge, jeep, ford, chevy, buick, toyota dealer. We do all of that out of one parts department. I am also a volunteer firefighter, currently setting on the board for the Southside Virginia Fire training commission and secretary for the Prince Edward Area firefighters association. Somehow i still find time to take the rovers or toyota out and play.

I work as maintenance crew for an adult video store/boutique during the day cleaning the floors and glass in the viewing rooms, and at night I work at the Sanitation Plant here in San Antonio cleaning the grates and filtration systems for the Level 1 - Level 2 waste inlets.
Not to bad and pays the bills.

Actually, I'm a Portfolio Analyst for USAA (The insurance/bank for the military) and have worked there about 3 years. My degree is in computers, but I specialize in IT Project Management and Process Engineering.:D

I am a poor college student that drives and hour and a half once a week to go to Birmingham for school. On top of that I work part time at a fairly large Church here in Huntsville as an office assistant where I drove around most of the day running errands.
