ok, I stand corrected. Doesn't explain why people get sick when they're bit though.

Because most people weren't just simply bitten, they were eaten alive. A large mouthful of carotid artery, ulnar vein/artery, or disembowelment, will kill you somewhat quickly. Once your dead, and became infected from the bite, you turned. Earlier on, it took longer to turn and rise because people either weren't infected yet, or the progression of the infection was low. When Jim was bitten, it wasn't necessarily that it took him a long time to turn, but that it took him awhile to die.

Or at least, that's my theory on it

Everybody that is infected has the dormant Virus, when bitten, "active virus" (I guess that would be would be the term) gets introduced in the system, which kills you and then you turn.

Did we watch the same thing?

Sorry, needed to clarify why I originally said that. While the episode itself was somewhat action-packed, there were some issues with it IMO. Why did they drive around at break neck speed while shooting at the zombies? Why did the person driving the RV up to the barn to rescue Rick and the kid have the door wide open and get so easily eaten alive by the zombies? Why did they leave the highway meeting place without siphoning gas from other vehicles; also with no apparent follow-on plan? Those types of things just made it seem crappy. One would think that a person would attempt to gather as many supplies as possible when an opportunity presents itself, i.e., gas and any supplies, spare parts, etc. from abandoned vehicles. Just seemed like there were waaay too many silly mistakes made one after the other.

Headshots with a pistol at 30mph through a field?! I know it is TV, but come on...

i finally got a chance to watch the last episode last night, it was pretty good. i thought it was interesting how shane was acting in the last few episodes he was in as far as his speech patterens and his phyisical movements. very jerky and slurred; he was becoming more like the walkers. then in this last episode rick started to take on the same characteristics. that was cool i thought.

And Hershel with the unlimited rounds in the pump....

I try to suspend reality on those types of things, but the not being prepared, scavenging supplies does get to me.

Like, why are they driving 30+ year old vehicles (the RV, the truck, the suburban) or crappy ones (the Aztec) when they could have their pick of better/more reliable transportation?

X2 on every item.

Been wondering about why they haven't found/ stocked more supplies... With a large percent of the population walking-dead; I would think they would have tons of available swag.

They've also spent no time fortifying, building fences or anything. They just sit around and wait for Walkers...

Exactly. Forgot about the unlimited shotgun round supply. Never understood why they used old ass vehicles either. Instead of spending a great deal of time on touchy feely stuff, the show would be better IMO, if it showed them gathering up supplies, coming up with some future plans for action, etc. But instead, the characters seem to do very little planning and hope that somehow they will have the stuff they need, when they need it.

Watching them search for fuel, ammo, & supplies wouldn't be as dramatic.

Not saying it would be a dramatic edition to the already existing plot, but a common theme resonating throughout most of the episodes.

I can't wait. Although right now I'm getting my fill of Don Draper and Mad Men and once I get caught up I plan on starting breaking bad. So much to do...
