Three amigos reset tool

He needs to go one step further and explain what the codes mean. Like from his video, what the hell is a 0:22 ref ground fault? I think it's pretty cool though. I'll start saving and when peolpe here post the code fixes I"ll get rid of the three little fricking amigos that have been blinding me at night for 2 years.

Sorry, but none of the scan tools will do more than tell you what the conditions are that have been encountered. That is where knowledge of the vehicles comes into play.

You have to understand the theory of operation to understand what the scan tool tells you.

You fix the porblem. Do you think just clearing your codes performs miracles?

If they come back 2 days later, you obviously didn't fix the problem that was causing them in the first place.

this isn't an 'override' for the three amigos. It's a way to solve the problems associated with them, and turn off the lights.. Previously, the biggest problem with the Discovery 2 for home mechanics, was you couldn't properly diagnose and fix ABS/TC/HDC problems because you couldn't read the codes that the truck was generating, and then even if you did properly fix it, you'd still have to go to the dealership to turn off the lights.

This device is a tool for home mechanics to fix their trucks and separate them from the dealership... it's not so much for people who just want annoying lights shut off.

Are you trying to tell me my OBD2 scanner didn't replace my 02 sensors for me, the last time it read and cleared my codes?

I am field testing one of the these units and it works as advertised. It couldn't be any easier to use. Plug it in and it reads, records the code(s) in a text file (up to three events) and removes any stored fault codes. It's a very useful tool to help you diagnose the three amigos.

My name is Storey Wilson,
I am the designer and sole manufacturer of the ABS Amigo.

First off Let me say that this is a brand new product that has gone through hundreds of hours of development and testing on my part. I have tried to account for every possible error and or bug. That being said it is possible that there may still be bugs to be worked out. I will replace any product that is faulty and am always avaliable for questions through email. So please do not hesitate to email me. :) So far all of the testing has gone perfectly and I do not anticipate any problems.

To Flyfisher11 and Stevo: Yours orders went out this morning. They should arrive on Thursday or Friday at the latest. Let me know if there are any questions or issues.

The ABS amigo reads and clear the ABS fault codes. Currently the unit does not talk to the SLS (self leveling) portion of the SLABS unit. All of the normal fault codes associated with the ABS are read and cleared by the ABS amigo.

I do not know if the unit will work on a Macintosh. I have been meaning to try it, but there are no Macs here at the university. :) The ABS amigo emulates a USB flash drive so the probability of it working is high. I will see if I can test it ASAP on a Mac.

The Fault codes will of course need to be traced back to the offending system in the ABS. Once the fault codes are read the problem area will need to be traced down. This is an entirely seperate part of the information chain. At this point all I can do is read the fault codes. Interpreting the fault codes and properly fixing the ABS is the next part of the information chain. I am working with my local mechanic to try and understand all of his tricks and methods for working with the fault codes. All of this information will be posted to my website when finished.

I have worked with thousands of people on the Range Rover EAS system. I hope to now begin working with the Discovery 2 owners on this ABS problem.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Storey Wilson

huh? no more googling? About the only thing you could google to fix this before was the local address to the local dealership or independent.

Oh man have I been there. The tool sounds very cool and next time those bastards appear, you will get an order from me.

Not "quite" true.

This will Read / clear / test / function / reconfigue ABS, HDC, TC, SLS, ALARM, BCU and soon to be ACE as well. its is a standalone unit OR can be used with a PC or Laptop. Its "aimed" at TD5 owners primarily as it is a "european developed tool" as it also does the FULL TD5 engine in the Disco 2 and Defender,

however the V8 and TD5 use the same "body" modules etc, so it will work for those on either trucks. It is basically like Rovercom, but in a neat little box ;) and a 1/3rd of the cost

Duh
Doesn't mean I haven't waisted countless google hours looking for a home grown solution to getting these codes. Keeps those servers a spinning.

Did anyone tried it and cleared the three amigos? My wife's DII dashboard seems like Christmas everyday.....if this works I will order in a heartbeat.

You've still got to fix the problem after the device reads and clears the codes. ABS issues are typically caused by bad ABS senseor, shuttle valves or modualtors. This device will turn the lights off and point you in the right direction to correct the issue, but it won't fix the problem. (no device will) If you just reset the lights without correcting the problem, they will be back in short order.

Cool...most indy shop charge normally $95 and up just to use their Autologic so 200.00 is worth a shot.

So far all of the testing of the ABS amigo has gone smoothly. Once the unit is plugged into the OBDII port, the ABS fault codes are read and cleared. The Three amigos lights are then extinguished from the dash board. (Assuming the Physical ABS problem is resolved) The fault codes can then be read form the ABS amigo by plugging it into a Windows USB port.

Thanks,
Storey Wilson
