It is time for the parting of ways with my 2000 DII. 191k miles. Straight up, not too many redeeming qualities; runs but as a minimum it is leaking oil leading to needing heads being replaced; worst case new engine. I don't see any cost benefit to repair. The only repairs attended to are; new...
:banghead:So I finally got a chance to get my disco on jack stands, the front drive shaft has no play except at the spline joint. So now I am wondering could be the hub? Any suggestions
I do have access to a replacement shift if need be. Though I doubt I have the expertise to replace it, (not...
On my '00 D2 (180K) I have noticed a squeaking/chipping sound when accelerating, over 20mph, the sound dissipates when letting off the gas, hut comes back when at a contestant speed over 20. It almost sounds like a pulley/idler squeaking but in neutral @4k rpm no sound. Not sure if it is a hub...
I already bought the replacement part from AB/BP, first thing. It is not a issue about money, it is about the neccessity of the part.
Since, I also bought a TB gasket, I will be replacing the part, wondering if worth the effort to reconnect the cooling system through it. Thanks for everyones input.
Is it even necessary to have the TB heater? I am thinking instead of repairing the leaking part to just by-pass. It rare get that cold out here in NorCal. Any opinions for or against?
Engine started to make a ticking sound when warmed up, can not really discern where the sound originates. Checked oil, was down, added more and ticking went away for about a week or so. A friend suggests timing belt, I am hoping not.
Any Ideas and know a decent mechanic in NorCal

2000 LRDII 168k, ran some errands today, no problems 3 hours later went to run some other errands and will not turn over, 12v to primary (good battery). I thinking it might be a starter motor issue (throw out bearing) or some such. Any wisdom?
Checked fuses, moved shifter and tried to start in...
n00b to Discos. Got the 3 Amigos last night after a short hour long drive. The faults cleared with a key cycle. My question is when this happens again what are my options? I have been reading past posts on this issue, still confused on a fix. I also read this is a common problem with DIIs so...
