Ok I have an issue. I drove down to Salt Lake City from Jackson Hole today. I stopped to get gas just now, and when I got back in the Rover to drive off, I noticed the amber Downhill Control warning light is on. I haven't used that function at all. I ran my scanner and nothing came up. I cleared it anyway, but the warning light is still on. I restarted the engine and it is still on. No repeating audible sounds, just the warning light. Is this a big deal?
The button to activate the HDC is right next to the fuel door button. You may have simply activated it by mistake, try cycling the HDC button.
Only the Hill Decent Control light is illuminated? The only reason that would come on by itself would be because you pushed the button. Otherwise you will have the three amigos which indicates an ABS system fault. Either way, it doesn't really matter.

My wife really digs the Defender. She has a built up Jeep, she loves the topless Defenders. She has been pointing them out. Ha. We saw this one yesterday in Jackson, WY.

Not the green active DHC light, but the orange/amber warning DHC light.
On my 03, the DHC button is to the right of the steering wheel by AC.
Also, we went to eat right after the light came on, when I restarted it a while later, all 3 Amigos were on. 1st time in 7500 miles and first since I did the circuit ground jump mod. When I got to the hotel, I restarted it twice. DHC warning light came on the first time. Second time no warning lights at all.
About 2 hours before the DHC warning light came on, we hit some standing water on I-15 causing a tense moment of hydro planing, and the ABS system kicked in for a brief moment. So maybe that has something to do with it.

Assuming your brakes aren't squeaking, I would make sure all four wheel speed sensor connectors are clean.
Actually, my brakes started squeaking a week ago. They squeal right as I'm coming to a stop. Like at 10mph, well after I have applied the brake. Brand new brake pads installed in KC on July 9th.
After I drop off wife at airport in the am, I will find a spot and check those sensors.
Maybe water got in them. It rained the whole way today, plus I had that hydro plane incident.
Well I made it to Durango. Nice drive from Moab on the back country trails. I hired a guide tomorrow to take me fly fishing on the San Juan River just across the border in New Mexico. I'm camped out at the Navajo Lake State Park. I leave for home tomorrow after fishing. Should be home Sat.
It's been a long trip. 33 days on Sat. It took a month, but I'm ready to go home now. Once I get home I'll be able to finish posting pics and hopefully find a way to link my voice notes.

Well I made it home. Sitting on my own toilet is niiiice! The 100 degree heat sucks. It was 104 in Wichita Falls yesterday.
No bears fucked me.
The Rover survived with some TLC and a scanner!
I do have a nice beard going now.
Time for a shower and a nap. I'll get started on the pics in the next day or two.

da!m this is the longest thread i have seen in along time
all i have to say is im a sinner i am envious would love to take a trip like that the thread has been great cant wait to see pics. i have. been educated and entertained. CBR. I appreciate your solo motovation. it speaks to the dam cry baby mentality of alot of young americans and says lookbitches you can do something without a efn handout. Hail AMERICA
