No crap. But it does work well in my moms truck. Can take a corner way faster than you would think for a lifted truck. Got me thinking now.

The General Section is as the name says General BS. And many of the topics are bs yet that's why the section is here. It doesn't say General Land Rover bs just General bs. Kinda like this thread - bs.

I've changed my mind about this post. I think I'll replace it with a simple:

Fuck you.

Cheers,

Noe,
Remember that pic? We had a good time if I remember correctly? Garrett went into town and brought back about a dozen 40's of select malt beverage.

Yeah man, that was a great time, one of the best (Sizzler?). I'm sure I'm not alone in remembering the bonds that were cemented from that little weekend. I miss hanging out with all you guys. But..........I don't remember taking that pic. I still have those boots if that helps.

Point of my other post was simply: don't click. I probably frequent over 20 forums ranging from microprocessor design to audiophile to finance to conspiracy and it's all the same shit and there's always some purist lamenting the noobs and the boobs and the stooges. Some might call it "group dynamics".

I am far more concerned about the black man in that photo Mike. Are black people still allowed at MAR?

I am picking up what you are putting down though. Maybe it's people getting bored and there's nothing else to bitch about. I mean bitching about LRs gets pretty old. So why not bitch about everything else. Apparently it makes people feel better. We're all experts on everything and nothing should go unnoticed. Right? I just assume all the cheese dicks crying about soft shackles and the such are just screwing around. I sure hope so. It's amateur hour 24/7, but no one realizes it.

More than anything, it is the age of the trucks.10 years ago, DIs were still daily drivers for lots of people, and the DII was still selling strong. You could buy a gently used truck, hit a few events that were pretty easy, hang out. Now the last of the DIIs are coming up on ten years old, and a clean DI is a rarity anymore. there is not much left to figure out about these trucks in regards to modifying them. The LR3/4 crowd is not hitting the woods the way the earlier ones did. For lots of the Dweb crowd these trucks are either a labor of love or part of a collection. Dweb still has lots of good info, just not much new info. People move on to other things. Seems lots of folks are getting into motorcycles now.

Maybe this is related, maybe not, but this thread seems as good a place as any to gripe. Years back, I loved the whole "grassroots" feel to land rovering. Even if you owned a truck that was a bit out of place in this country, and usually found itself doing the work of a minivan instead of a luxury offroader, you could buy the best bumpers, steering, sliders, springs, etc in the world... and they were made right here in the USA. If you had to do some repairs and needed new parts, you could get genuine parts easily from a handful of suppliers (both wholesale and retail) and make sure the job was done right. Now the businesses that made those bumpers, etc and the businesses that sold those parts are both struggling because new companies have come along selling cheap, chinese made shit. And as long as everyone is concerned with who sells the least expensive turn signal lens or shock absorber, it will only get worse.

Or go to the general section and search for: Christianity, Christian, Islam, Muslim, homosexual, guns, Iraq, election or any other number of other terms that are likely to elicit heated debate unrelated to land rovers.

Relative noobs bitching about how the general section isn't like it was in the good old days is just funny.

I never sold you anything Mike. I have a very strong policy of "no sales to someone who has a unsavory political system in their nickname" This includes Nazi Mike, Khmer Rouge Ken, and Dave the Plutocrat. When these people call me I just hang up the phone on principle. I won't compromise this, not even for Dave the Plutocrat and that guy is loaded.

actually, you are correct. we purchased an engine and ecu from a vendor who sourced the parts from you. that vendor knew we specifically asked for a specific ecu.
we specifically said we need an '03 non-lev ecu.

first ecu was incorrect. i personally returned it via UPS to you.

second ecu was incorrect. it said right on the ECU 'KV', which is a freelander ecu. plugged it into the truck, read the vin, ran the vin, and sure enough it was a freelander ecu.
i once again personally returned via UPS to you.

third ECU showed up, and once again it was incorrect.

the confusion i have is this. Randy Williams, the actual vendor we purchased this through, said you told him you called me and talked to me about this. you never called me.
I resorted to calling Justin Monnin, since you two are friends, to see if he could call you and straighten this out.
the end result was me having to put the secondary air heads back on the truck, which equaled a good bit of time and money lost.

Randy Williams assured me, on the third and final ecu, you told him you personally went out to an '03 non-lev and pulled the ecu.

you can resort to name calling all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that you were involved in this transaction. i was unaware, at the time, this is not uncommon with used parts...vendor doesnt have something so they source it from another vendor.

instead of name calling, call me out and call me a liar that you were in no way associated at all with this transaction. call Randy a liar, that he did not source the engine and ecu(s) from you. call Justin Monnin a liar, that i never called him and asked him to call you and send another ecu out to us.
monday, i will call UPS and get the tracking information regarding the ecus i personally shipped back to you, properly labeled and bubble wrapped.

First, you weren't bitching about how the people on DWeb wheel, you were bitching about the forum. Speaking of off-topic posts.
Second, I can only make assumptions since you decided talking out your ass was more meaningful than actually answering my question.
Third, if you don't like a thread, don't read it. It's pretty simple. I'm not aware of any restrictions on the number of threads started in a day so it's not like a thread you don't like is stopping you from starting one you think appropriate for the general section. Though I have no idea what would meet your definition of "General BS" since the BS being posted apparently doesn't. I guess the BS in this thread.
Fourth, if you started in 2001 you're still a relative noob compared to some on the forum.
Lastly, I agree about non-tech being posted in the tech section.

Does that mane you'd never sell me anything?
