Daniel-
I thought the auction might become a bargain fest! Good work. I'll give you $250 for the whole lot!
We bailed from the island at 7AM on Saturday, I had a feeling the water was on the rise, at that point there was only a few inches over the causeway.

I MISSED MEETING AXEL! :( :(

MAR was fun...even in the rain! (I have never before seen my Gore-Tex jacket completely drenched ...and my hair was curly for 3 days!)

We got stuck on the trail Friday night until after Midnight.....after playing in the mud on the island, we went to do the ISLAND PARADISE TRAIL (easy) and all was fine except one spot where Ivan laid the Rangie against a tree and then I couldn't get around him for the guy behind me to winch him out. UGH-had to be winched UP the hill sideways so I wouldn't slide the Disco into the RRC (that would have sucked taking two broken trucks home) and then he backed out with no problem. It was a little scary b/c I kept thinking I was going to plunge into the James River! Our friend were awesome and did a great job of helping get everyone out safely. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE! That was adventure enough for me in my truck. We rode around with our friend John the rest of the time b/c he's got 5 inches of Rovertym under the Disco! (btw, he's image #16 in the LRL pics-I'm in the backseat!)

I'm sooo sad that so many people left Friday and Saturday---Sat afternoon and evening into Sunday was the best time there! Got a good deal on some springs at the auction, rode some trails, and stayed up late (3am?) drinking wine and beer with some newly acquired friends, and making s'mores and playing "I Spy" with a 6-year old! It was great! We added a few items to that trash pile near Philly Rovers....our screenhouse collapsed Friday night, but is repairable.

I finally got to meet Randy Williams (sorry I didn't get to catch up with you later in the day Sat) and Jamie Crusellas. Trevor Combs ran the Log Bridge trail with us Saturday-great guy and awesome truck! Saw Garrett (+ girlfriend) and Trevor Griffiths.....saw a few other trucks I recognized, but didn't meet the owners. And I saw Randy Maynard's Corgis! :)

Guess all in all, it turned out ok. We camped NEXT to the Philly Rovers (and I saw the cardboard cut-out to prove it), but we missed partying with you all.

ROAV did an awesome job planning the event and I was mostly sad about all their work put to waste. I think everyone who went would still say it was fun and good to go, just wet. I also wonder if we could do it another time in the year, but I am assuming the owners of the land have restrictions about the time. (they probably cut hay in the summer, etc)

There are many more stories, but I was glad to play in the mud, see some awesome trucks and meet new people. (I'm sorry we didn't get out Alyssa, everyone bailed on us late in the weekend. )

We were over on the outer edge of the camping site....had a huge green/yellow tent and a screenhouse (that collapsed). I saw your wife walking the dogs...but didn't get to see you. I HEARD you BAILED and found a hotel though! :)

Hopefully, we will make it to another event in the spring. Would love to go to Rausch or Paragon some day.

Yeah, got very little sleep Thursday night due to a certain Disco closing a certain log bridge on the west river run, and then spent Friday preparing the pig roast. About 9pm I was like a zombie, our tent was soaked, the dogs were absolutly miserable and wet, so my wife made a command decision that we would seek a dry bed for the night. Came back Saturday morning and found most people packing to leave, so we joined the exodus. The forecast Saturday morning wasn't so promising, but it looks like it turned out pretty good after all.

Honestly, if we had that many hours to drive, we would have considered leaving too. We live about 1.5 hours away (at the most) so we decided to stay through the bitter end! :D

We had a great time, though after the first night we bailed for a hotel. I don't mind getting mucky wet and muddy by day, but need to be able to get clean and sleep in a dry bed!

We also stayed until the bitter end. Friday was the worst weather day, Saturday was a lot better and the sun was shining again on Sunday.

i had a 7 hour drive in total to get back and was just a little tired and weary from the rain and EZ UP falling on us. not much sleep in the tent (no....not from that!) and i needed a solid roof over my head and a shower. that and my girlfriend was a little worried about the 15 horses and 15 cattle she was leaving at home, so back to MD for her and back to PA for me it was.
i kinda wish i would have stayed, but we did stick it out for two nights. glad i was able to hang out with the gang as much as i did. regardless if we never see the trails and hang out in a funeral tent the whole time it is still VERY much worth it. good drink, good food and good friends. shit.......what else do you need? honestly that is more of the reason i go to MAR.......to see my friends, share some funny ass stories, drink quality beverages and eat way more than i should. the trails are just the icing on the cake.
i am still laughing to myself about the things i heard on the CB those nights. damn.

MAR was awsome! it was my first time but i had a blast! the lake side trail was crazy. my stock disco got 3/4 of the way up, but then we pulled out the winch. i decided to stay to the very end and it paid off. i wound up getting the hi lift that was holding the stage up for $45 bucks!!!! i cant wait to go to MAR next year with a real tarp, not one made out of duck tape and trash bags!!! if anybodys got any drive shaft tips for a 98 disco let me know.

It was my shortest MAR, but maybe the most hilarious - flying roof racks, midnight VDOT trail work, drenched tents, etc. Mud And Rain defines it though. Saturday afternoon was the most peaceful. The rain stopped and we ran the West Log Bridge trail without even seeing any other trucks.

drive shaft tips? you mean like, "walk.....never run with a driveshaft in your hand."

more along the lines of......what kind of drive shaft kit can i get to replace my rotoflex when i do a 3 inch on my disco. and besides i only find myself running with a hi lift and tow straps in my hands
