    2003 locking CDL?

There were no 2003 NAS DII's fitted with CDL. I recall my LR Dealer had been delivered a number of DII's with the wrong "CDL" placard and they had to take a heat gun to each and replace with the correct one. His must have slipped through pre-delivery inspection.

Broke new masterpull xd winch line

Over eight years now... and I have never had an issue using 3/8" MP winch and extension lines with my Superwinch X9. Those that run synthetic rope pay a premium for one feature that you haven't commented on yet. Did your MP line perform as anticipated and "gently" drop? Did you feel an...

    Rte 2" Follow Up...yes Again

BFG AT 65/75's are the way to go. They have been an outstanding tire off-road in everything but the deepest mud. Plus, the TA/ko has gotten me through some serious snow covered passes on the way to Tahoe.

Bike Rack Suggestion for '04 Disco?

Just bought the BVG swing away for two bikes only 5 days ago... and coincidently 3 days ago... found myself needing the swing away to access the spare and swap out a flat! Plenty of clearance on my D2. Bought locally from here for $299.95 http://www.racknroad.com/bike-racks.html I did not...

Beating a dead horse: ARB air lockers vs. TTs on a d2

Agreed. CDL before any traction device(s). Carry Rud chains for the snow. If running ATs, switch to a MT for better results in the mud.

    DII 4:11 gearing

2000D2 here. I have 265/75 AT's and run the GBR 4:11 with GBR HD rear driveshaft. The engine turns a really noisy 3000rpm at 70mph. Keeping up with traffic at 75mph sounds extremely punishing to the 4.0 Buick. The HD driveline vibrations are absolutely obnoxious. I have unfortunately...

    Silblade Drop-In for Disco II

I have used the Land Rover Winter Blades for my DII the past two seasons. They are rather dorky looking... but solved the freezing blade problem and have worked flawlessly.

    BFG MT's, BFG AT's, or Goodyear MTR's?

Like someone once said on D-Web... "If you have to ask whether or not you need a MT, you probably don't". Besides, with AT's you can always feel better about spending money on a winch :) -Barry

    255/70/16 BFG AT's

Well, you have gone from a stock tire diameter of 29.1" to 30.2". 60 MPH on the speedometer is closer to 62.5 MPH. The extra rolling resistance does require more energy to get moving but, you might be getting a bit better distance/MPG than it seems. At least that's what I've noticed using my...

what are these cables that connect bull bars with roof racks?

High poseur value. In reality... a clothes line, or opportunity to behead pedestrians not deflected by the bull bar. :) -Barry

    cd magazine stuck

Same issue here occasionally, 2000 DII. Like John said... just have to fiddle with it. I have given up before, and found it ejecting perfectly two days later.

    Double carden prop shaft question

John, Was that reputable driveshaft shop located in the East Bay? If so, would appreciate their contact info and an idea of what it will cost. Thanks, Barry

03 NO CDL in the Sand

Mike, A stock D2 with 16" wheels needs a tire meant for an 8" wide rim... especially if you plan to air-down for sand driving. Go with the 265/70-16 (30.7" Diameter) BFG AT. The 245/75-16 (30.6" Diameter) works better on the D1 which has a 16 x 7 wheel. -Barry

    north west rock slider

Hey Lance, How 'bout a photo credit? ;) Now, back to how well the SlickRock sliders work. Note winch pulling D2 off rocks. :D

Batteries, and not the AAA type

Rob, A single Exide "red-top" has run my Engel 45 for about 2.5 days in the garage... but the engine did hesitate a bit upon the first crank. Not an issue for me when camping though since I run trails every day of a weekend (or week long) trip. No problem while using the Superwinch X-9...

    Junk

No doubt, the LR3 will be more capable than a DII driven off the showroom floor. Only time will tell regarding (to some) the more important issues of off-road reliability and durability. The latter concerns pointless for the majority of poseurs driving the Discovery. Their egos will still be...
