Scott: I really appreciate the response. I wil take pics and attempt to do a tech write-up; according to my manual it seems like an easy repair, I really hate the other hang-ups the manual doesnt reveal...my light stalk is doing the cold weather thing also...I wil put grease in mine and report...

Unless I get talked out of it, I plan to order used oem axles as rovertracks.com are out of stock in the HD versions. I'll wait on the Tru-Trac. Qurstions: 1. Screw the 4.0 and install a 4.6! I did that just this past summer and the power increase is outstanding. I procured a 4.6L from roverparts.com. good luck.

    New Disco setup, need advice

If you really want to tow a load I think you need a 4.6L. Which does yours have (4.0 or 4.6L) otherwise I would consider a Ford Excursion with the 6.2L Powerstroke.

Codes after swapping 4.0 for 4.6

Im VERY curious what they did to the harness. I did absolutely nothing to my harness except clean the contacts and have only one error code related to the O2 sensor (but that is my fault as i got mean with them on the swap.)

    Blown Head?

A slipped liner (which DII's are prone to) is a labor intensive job. Did you have the heads resurfaced/remachined when replacing the gaskets? Consider a new/used engine. I just replaced mine with a 4.6 and am completely thrilled with the performance... everything matches fine especially if the...

remount engine with intake and rockercovers on?

I recently finished dropping a 4.6 into my DII: TIPS: 1. Take off the intake! Much easier to maneuver and replace the wiring harness. Very easy to replace. 2. Consider cleaning up or replacing the metal gaskets between the plenum and manifold. 3. Be sure the ignition pack bracket doesn't get...

remount engine with intake and rockercovers on?

TIPS: 1. Take intake off as the wireing harness is much easier to reconnect. 2. You might consider cleaning up the metal gaskets a bit. 3. Rocker covers arent a big deal, leave 'm on. 4. Leave a shop clothe over the intake manifold to avoid dropping anything down in there. 5. make sure the...
