New belt...maybe so. I actually have one waiting for install. Don't see the VSS connection though. How would the VSS cause a momentarily dead tach/spedo. Didn't have any of the usual bad VSS symptoms.
Had a recent episode with my D1. I currently run 2 optima batteries with a Hellroaring isolator/combiner. On 2 occasions, I started the truck - tach and spedo dead. The first time it was a cool (<50 degree) morning, the second time it was warm. I thought my alternator was dead, but I had to...
Really?? - for gravel roads?? I'd install the driveshaft and alternator if you don't trust yours and save the extra weight for beer. You will be in Utah.
Give it up on the White Rim. You'll never get camping spots this late in the game. There's plenty of great places to go though. Try...
The inertia switch to the hazard lights on my '96 disco seem to be becoming more and more sensitive to bumps. It used to take a pretty good whack to get them going, now all I need is a washboard road or sometimes even a manhole cover in the street.
I did a search and found an old thread aboiut...
You're talking about diff lubrication right?
1. Make sure that you can open the fill access before draining.
2. Drain the old stuff
3. Replace the drain plug and refill. You will know its full when lube flows from the filler access.
If the spec on your DII is the same as my D1, you can use...

BTW, it just hits me that there is no land use/advocacy forum on the D-web. ?????
I'm just tired of the thing leaking. The cats and Y have been bashed soo many times that it really doesn't seat well anymore. Part of my interest in the NRP was that it supposedly gets out of the way better. I think I'll have a go with the local shop. The guy builds rock crawlers, so I'm sure...
Its happend to me twice. Mine started when I bashed the Y pipe on a rock. Thing is, how much did it wobble around before it fell out, and then yes, it may have taken the threads with it. If so, you have to take the manifold off and get it tapped. You can just ignore though - it if you don't...
Most of my driving since install has been in (semi) cold weather...Denver really hasn't had a winter this year. From the very start, they were better than stock. I percieve very little difference between initial cold stops and with them warmed up.
