I used to love discoweb. It used to be about actually taking care of our trucks, using them, wheeling them, maintaining them, and modding them.
Also I used to come on here and see pictures of all kinds of cool trips people went on. Not anymore.
There is still some of that going on here. But its mostly tech articles about the cheapest way to keep your beater disco running. And the general section is just stupid now. I havent read most of this thread, just the past few pages, and I agree with Jack. I feel like this thread/board is full of a bunch of Land Rover owners whom have nothing better to do than sit around on this BBS and talk about stupid shit all day. Who cares if you're eating bacon.

I don't name them because it's not any special alliance. It's not a club. We're not all pals. And I certainly don't want to give the impression that it is that way.
But there are a good number of people who call bullshit when they see it. Rob is one. Leslie is another. Marc and some other Utah boys do it from time to time. The brothers Rupp seem to as well. Musky still does. Jaime, Kennith, SLSC, Matt Taylor, Peter, Paul Morgan... Even Dan Chapman can throw down on occasion (Isn't that how this very thread got started?), but unfortunately he posts a ton of fluff as well.

You think you called me out on being a poser...yet, I've never claimed to be a hard-core off-roading techno-whiz. I've asked questions, I've learned and I've tried to help a few other people with the knowledge I've gained.
I take a few trips off-road every year. Yet, I drive in mud and rocks. I don't drive in the desert, on sand and through open country. I don't cry when my truck gets scratched. My truck isn't completely built and ready to do anything just because I've poured a bunch of money into it. Isn't that a poser? Someone who builds their truck up, only to drive it around on the road and keep it shiny and clean? I take care of my vehicle and I don't thrash it. I have few dents or dings and I don't drive it like a beater. I don't make stupid mods or try to fab things I can't do well. And I don't beat other people for trying. If I wanted to do that, I'd have been on LRO.
Yet, I can take a trip without telling everyone on the internet about it, taking pictures of everything I've eaten, telling everyone how cool I am and how much time I have to drive around. Shit, I think some of the trips you've taken were easier than my backyard. I don't have to be on TV, with my collar popped, trying to show everyone how high-class I am while standing next to a fake bimbo who wants to learn about driving a new Range Rover in the dirt. I mean hell, do you consider her a true off-roader now that she got to drive some of your trucks? In the past, I've admired your photo-essays and complimented your lifestyle. I might have even envied you a time or two...especially for having the free time to hunt or train your dog or go wheeling. But I'd take my life and my attitude any day over yours.
